Neighborhood Watch
The Glenmoor subdivision strives to have a neighborhood watch group.
We started this back in the nineties, but the effort had been dormant
recently.
A neighborhood watch group works in cooperation with the local police department, and our liaison is Officer Amy Bucci, who spoke at our last watch meeting on July 15, 2009.
A neighborhood watch group has one neighborhood watch captain who is the direct liaison with the police. In our case this is an open position.
Working with the neighborhood watch captain are the block captains.
This structure exists mainly for dissemination of information: The
police will contact
Lorelei, she in turn passes this on to the block
captains, who in turn pass it on to their neighbors. Of course we will
also use this web site to post information.
We are still looking for volunteers for block captains - we hope to
publish a list shortly, and if you want to be one, contact
Lorelei.
What kind of information are we talking about? Updated information
about crime in our area, alerts, etc.
Also information about how to make your neighborhood and home more crime
resistant: proper lighting, not leaving houses or garage door open, etc.
To be recognized as a neighborhood watch, we must show signs of life: active participants and meeting at least once a year. More often is certainly possible and that is up to the members.
Officer Bucci distributed some information during the meeting, but here are some links:
